EA Labels President Frank Gibeau claims that EA's next-gen software is "Nothing short of astonishing", a statement supported by EA's console partners who have seen the early works of this software.

In a recent blog post on EA.com, Frank Gibeau talks about the resculpting of the landscape within EA due to the switch over to next-generation software, and expresses his excitement about the "massive leap in technology, creativity and fun." that gamers will experience with the unveiling of the Playstation 4 a few days ago.

"For EA’s creative teams, this transition comes as no surprise." according to Gibeau.
"We’ve been investing and innovating on new technology for months. Console partners who have seen our early work agree, EA’s next-gen software is nothing short of astonishing. At a GameStop company meeting earlier this week, we gave 500 store managers a sneak peak at Battlefield 4. The game received a huge ovation and thousands of fans reacted to a single enthusiastic Tweet by GameStop’s CEO".

Gibeau's blog post gives the confirmation we need to know that DICE's Battlefield 4 is indeed being developed for EA's next-generation software. Finally, Gibeau closed his blog post by saying the old credo they have at EA: "Transition is our friend".

I expect them to mean they're improvising on Frostbite with Heatstroke or something. Utilising the capabilities of the next-gen hardware at 150%, let them burn the console. Nah, that would be an utter waste, so, uh, do that to an extent like 103%.

Well, Frostbite 2 is nothing short of incredible, so i can only imagine that they've got 2.5, or maybe even 3 running at this point...which would be ungodly. Or maybe they've mixed in another engine to multiply it somehow. Idk, but it's DICE, we can only expect magic.

Hell yeah, I can't wait for 84 man servers!

Why not expand on the squad systems with platoons, in game? I'd like four platoons on each team, but that sounds like asking for too much.
  5. lPiekyl
That depends if they make a default number for platoons and how many people that run the same tag can be in there.
  6. krahd
That's not what I meant. Like the different squads, I meant that the different squads would be assigned to another group like a squad during the round in game. I'm not knowledgeable of the US army, so I doubt it would be implemented. Then again, it's unreasonable to divide them even further unless secondary specialisations could be assigned.

It think its very reasonable. I mean like; why not?

A platoon, by definition has 26 to 50 soldiers. Even assuming them to be twenty each, that would mean 160 man servers. I really hope they're not just bragging with next gen specs and can actually do this.

Hahahaha good lord. Could you imagine that on close quarters sized maps?
  10. D3RM1AN
Tbh, there's always a limit to everything and i think next gen consoles (well PS4 because that's the only console which specs have been revealed) can handle at least 80-100 players. Whilst having amazing graphics.

Sixty against sixty would be great as well. Of course, much larger maps, many more vehicles, more capture points, then it would be really epic. Since PS2, I wanted a version where it's actually realistic.

I would like to see more vehicles, more classes, more weapons and more destruction !

    Larger maps fo' sure!
And another thing...i noticed that certain vehicles are dedicated to certain maps. But i want that one or two vehicle(s) to be on all maps. Lets say there are 10 large maps, why not have gunships on all of those? not just in 4, which would be the DLC maps. And not have it in smaller, infantry maps.

Also, a shit load more upgrages and attachments for vehicles and weapons!
Why not have a upgrade which lets you carry more missiles in your jet but makes it go slower (or some shit). So it would balance out the gameplay, so the player really has to think to become superior not just pick the obvious.

You're right. Limiting the amount of ammo for the rockets and a fuel mechanic in the hardcore mode would be great as well.

I hope the next-gen consoles help BF4 expand to more players. I hope they add cool stuff and more destruction.

As happy as we should be that BF4 is finally mentioned, in the end its a whole lot of vague promises about the future. The first line of the article mentions a massive leap in technology for the PS4, yet most of the articles describes the transitioning process which specifically mentions "iOs and Android" among other hints. I personally could care less about handheld devices; I want BF4 to be the best it can be for the big 3 (PS4,720,PC). His article was very much like the PS4 meeting itself; lots of focus on trends, the future of gaming, and presumably mobile devices... What ever happened to just playing games on our freaking video game systems?

Sounds like the usual baseless marketing mumbojumbo. Those marketing drones probably haven't even seen the game yet...and so it starts, ladies and gentlemen:

The Bullsh!t Train Simulator 2014 is arriving!

All hail the bullshit train simulator 2014!
    All hail! All hail!
