DICE/EA Has officially released the "Big News" and that's a year worth of epic DLC/Expansion packs that spread out from June to December, as well as private servers via console.

    3 New DLC's Announced
Guildford, UK. – March 7, 2012 – The Battlefield™ army is over 12 Million strong and growing every day as Battlefield 3™ and its first expansion, Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand continues to recruit gamers around the world with its dynamic sandbox gameplay and state-of-the-art technology. Today, DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) studio, demonstrates its ongoing commitment to fans by unveiling three new themed digital expansion packs* that will enhance the superior Battlefield experience with fresh and innovative gameplay, new modes, unique environments and more ways to wage all-out-war on the battlefield. Powered by the Frostbite™ 2 engine, the next expansion packs are: Battlefield 3: Close Quarters in June, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill in the fall, and Battlefield 3: End Game in the winter.

In Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, players are dropped into a frantic, infantry-only theatre of war. Frostbite 2 high definition destruction makes the environment come alive as everything from furniture to plaster gets shot to pieces. Players will feel the intensity of the world exploding around them as rubble and broken pieces pile up on the floor, while tight level design and vertical gameplay create a highly competitive environment. Battlefield 3: Close Quarters also introduces new weapons, assignments and unique dog tags to bring back to the base game.

    Key Features:
    • Get plunged into frantic and relentless infantry combat
    • Check your corners as death can come from any angle
    • HD destruction lets you reduce entire locales to ruin
    • Earn new weapons and bring them back to the base game
    • Complete new assignments and equip unique dog tags
    • Play in new ways, mixing team play and instant action
    2: Battlefield 3: Armored Kill–
Following the tight infantry gameplay of Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, DICE will release Battlefield 3: Armored Kill that ups the ante for vehicular mayhem as only Battlefield can do. Featuring new driveable tanks, ATVs, mobile artillery and more, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill also delivers huge battlefields for an all-out vehicle assault, including the biggest map in Battlefield history.

    3: Battlefield 3: End Game –
The fourth expansion pack will ship in the winter but details remain tightly guarded.

    Sweet.

I'd hope they will do something smart with the massive map, it'll be a bit shit on consoles otherwise.

This is the big news? 3 DLC packs starting in June? With all of last year talking about how expansive FB 2.0 and battlelog makes BF3 and how much they can do with it, I was expecting something a bit more agressive.

Im glad they are making some DLC and everything, but all this is going to do is throw fuel on the fire for the "console port" crowd and months of hearing that mindless droning.

The DLCs throughout the year will give something for everyone I guess.

The only good thing that dlces will bring are patches, along with new bugs haha, for sure! WHERE IS THE FOREST MAP????? I WANT TO FIGHT IN THE WOODS!

Thats how they advertised BF3 in the first place - and everyone knows that maps are much smaller than Battlefield 2's.

Now stating the same AGAIN is very bold. And in fact, it would mean that this map has to be larger than those from Battlefield 2's Project Reality (largest in BF history!) which I can not imagine.

This Close Quarters DLC shows how desperately DICE/EA wants to make CoD fans buy BF3.
Maps designed like Metro? Everyone who fell in love with Battlefield before Bad Company will not even touch this with a pointy stick.

Armored Kill sounds the most interesting. But after what they delivered with the BF3 vanilla maps, I doubt that these Maps will be anything different. Flat, empty, flags pushed together in the center, boring. Thats how I describe all Maps of BF3.

In BF3 DICE/EA did one hell of a job with not including what made BF1942, BF2 and 2142 so special. With this DLC's they continue to go the same road. Downhill.

What the community needs isn't DLC's. Its Mod Tools and a demo recorder.

    Close Quarters?

When was the last time you heard about marines engaging on the top of a hotel?=//////////////

    No I am really dispappointed...

Close quarters is just another step towards modern warfare.
