We've got some exclusive (unofficial, but from a very reliable source) news and some new dates for you all. It looks like EA/DICE is rolling out a premium content service, and are also planning to drop 5th expansion after their previously announced End Game DLC. In addition, there will be a DOUBLE XP WEEKEND this weekend, May 12th - 14th!

    Battlefield Premium : June 4th
    Close Quarters : June 12th

    June 2012 : Guide
Get the upper hand with this strategy guide, teaching you how to improve and become an even more skilled player.

    August 2012: Bonus Content

    Fall 2012 : Armored Kill

    Winter 2012 : End Game

March 2013 : 5th Expansion Pack (still untitled)

Looks like some exciting things on the horizon! What are your thoughts on the new info and what are you most looking forward to?

New expansion sounds interesting, but the rest is just laughable! Got to jump on that CoD model, eh EA?

-Battlefield Premium? Totally not trying to copy COD Elite here.

-Guide? rofl. What the fuck are you thinking DICE? Youtube is filled with videos on tips and tricks for BF3.

    Another DLC?

    Milking, milking everywhere.

Don't know if I'd go for the "premium", but tbh I probably will. I AM SHAMED.

As for more DLC I think that's pretty cool. As long as DINOSAURS

One day everyone is talking shit about COD and beating it down, the other day everyone buys a game that -desperately- tries to copy that exact game.

Norms are pretty high these days

Would you prefer they don't do any DLC?? Hey, if you like the game, and you want it to still feel fresh until the next BF game, then I'm all for more DLC. Variety is the spice of life.

Agree with your last sentence. And that's why I'll be playing Planetside 2 and then buy ARMA3 with its gazillions mods (free DLC).

Some info about this "Premium"? Will it be like the CoD Elite Premium service?

I came here from the link on twitter "Battlefield 3 servers" Funny how I don't see the news on that.. cheap shot :/ No Official servers to play on - why would I care about the rest?

As long as this premium stuff is merely just cosmetic, I'm fine. Too much expensive (or even cheap) DLC with all kinds of new guns is just a tad bit retarded.

smoke and mirrors ppl "DISTRACTION" How can they release this NEWS and not give us some on the servers to answer all the ppl who have been flooding twitter and facebook this last few days?

Here's how i feel on the whole battlefield premium/cod elite model. Currently how it stands is they say "if you sign up you'll get this dlc/exclusive, this dlc/exclusive, this dlc/exclusive yada yada yada" ok that sounds great and all but they don't show you what your buying. What that does is it removes the demand for QUALITY dlc. Once you sign up and pay your money they have your money, and can release whatever they want (one shitty map, some weapon skins, etc.). The old model is they had to make the dlc as flashy as they could to get people to buy the dlc. This new model promotes lower quality dlc and for that reason i'm against it completely. If they showed off all the dlc drops, gave details, how many maps, what guns, etc. then I would be more inclined to buy into the premium service.

Publishers and Developers are already going down a blood sucking money whore path as it is, one more thing that leads them farther down the path is bad. The only way I would even consider getting such a service is if the dlc was exclusive only to subscribers and if the dlc contained elements that gave you an advantage or if they showed us what we were getting like stated earlier. Ex. new camo's and gun skins and black dog tags...i'll pass cause it's just flashy accessories, but if it had a new powerful weapon that is pretty decent, I would probably buy to stay up on the competition. I hate to sound so negative about all this but quality for what you pay in the gaming world has gone way downhill in my opinion.

What's the source? Who said this?

I'm going for none of this. At no point in reading this "info leak" did I have the sudden desire to want to play BF3 anymore than I already do. All the cosmetic premium items mean very little to me. If you want to pay extra for all that nonsense then go right ahead, it's not going to make you a better battlefield player or give you a edge on anyone.

I'm willing to bet this idea was all EA. I understand that they're trying to breathe new life into a franchise but using a carbon copy of an already established service is just pure laziness.

The double xp will be interesting as there have been quite a few new players I've encountered that would probably be interested in it. But for people like Coldmarines and other rank 100's, it really doesn't matter :p

I thought it was Score or Credits but now its XP. Battlefield Premium is just another bullshit theory, like the SPECACT Kit; It doesn't grant you extra power, but it gives you the feeling you're better than everyone else because you paid for it. On the other hand, it is only EA trying to make the community happier.
